Fleet Updateposted by Karl Desmond on 2021-08-06
Scott and I have recently returned from Cotswold Airport where we went on the shop for new aircraft.
We're pleased to announce that we have purchased two Jet2 757-200's in 21B and 236 configurations:
• G-LSAD is the 236, taking its first flight on 30/03/1989 and joined Air Europe on 13/04/19/89. Throughout its life it has joined Air Europa, Air 2000, First Choice Airways, Greece Airways, Air Scotland and lastly Jet2 in 2006. LSAD was moved to storage in March 2020. It’s now in the engineering hangar at Birmingham undergoing some maintenance and will also be re-liveried. Once ready, it will join the fleet as G-ZSMI and will be named ‘ Pythagoreion, Samos’.
• G-LSAH is the 21B, with its first flight on 08/10/1987 and flew exclusively for China Southern Airlines from 27/10/1987 to 05/02/2007 when it was delivered to Jet2. LSAH has been in storage since June 2020 and our maintenance teams are currently fitting two RB211-535E4’s to the airframe so it can be moved to Birmingham. Once ready, it will join the fleet as G-ZNBE and will be named ‘Mos Espa, Tatooine’.
This of course means we will also be opening new routes! Both aircraft will service the following destinations:
• Gran Canaria
Whilst we don't have any registered 757's or even any liveried 757's in the fleet at this time, once these routes are live, please feel free to fly them using the relevant Jet2 LSAD & LSAH liveries.
